The DuPage River Trail is part of a 40-mile long system of paved trails. Several separated sections of the system have been constructed. The section of the trail in Plainfield is located east of Route 59 and north of Naperville Rd. It primarily runs on the north side of the river from River View Park northward and loops back. The entire stretch is approximately .8 miles in length and takes about 15 minutes to walk.
Other completed sections of the trail run through Hammel Woods in Shorewood (4.1 miles, wooded and hilly), Whalon Lake in Naperville (Royce Rd) is 3.71 miles and Riverview Farmstead Preserve (Book Rd) is approximately .75 miles.
The DuPage River Trail travels near the following communities: Naperville, Woodridge, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Channahon and Shorewood.
